Talking about bad habits…
This mischievous rabble of young lads from Lewisham is wreaking havoc across London with their lively new single, ‘Bad Habits’ and saying “fuck cool, let’s laugh” in the timeless language of British Ska music, brought up to date by eight by "real musicians, real band, real brass section… fabulous & so refreshing” David Rodigan, BBC Radio 1xtra.
‘Bad Habits’ is the debut single from Chainska Brassika’s forthcoming debut album, out later this year. The LP was recorded & is being mixed at The Yard under the Westway, in Ladbroke Grove, by Nick Manasseh, pioneering UK dub producer.
"ChainSka is one of the most impressive and promising upcoming acts in the reggae/ska genre that I have seen or heard in while. Refreshingly unique and our audience loved them as much as we did."
Ken Stewart, The Skatalites
Having supported Madness, The Skatalites, Gentleman’s Dub Club, Easy Star All Stars to name a few, they’ve had knees flying at Glastonbury Festival, Boomtown, Bestival, Notting Hill Carnival, The Isle of Wight Festival and toured in Italy. Summer 2015 is set to include Outlook Croatia and several other European festivals; further announcements coming soon….
“None of the other acts are expected to live up to Madness but in one of the back rooms a band who are rising stars of the London ska scene take to the stage. ChainSka are a formidable force and though they end with some crowd-pleasing covers, the quality of their own tracks is incredible. With a large brass section they blend the instruments perfectly, with groove similarities to Fat Freddy's Drop but less emphasis on the dub and infinitely better to dance to. The full dance floor show their appreciation in the best way possible by dancing like nutters and it's the first time this weekend I hear people ask for an encore.”

‘Bad Habits’ was the band’s original name, formed during their schooldays, until forced to change it by an American rock band, when they became Chainska Brassika - the area where they originate, Brockley, being a member of the Brassika vegetable family!
